To provide healthy, safe, affordable, accessible, child care to low socioeconomic and impoverished families located in Durant, Mississippi and surroundings areas of Holmes County.

Our Philosophy:

Incorporate open communication between staff and parents in a safe and stimulating environment that enriches the children through these important first years. We are committed to providing a healthy, clean, safe, comfortable, loving environment, where they can learn, play, and grow. To fulfill this goal, we are focused on providing the children with a sense of respect for self and others.

Our Goal & Purpose:

We promote the value of structure and flexible schedules. Structured activities will include the use of curriculum for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, which includes regular reading times, arts and crafts, and musical activities. Outdoor play, free play, birthday parties, educational videos, is just some of the more flexible activities we provide. Our priority is to have FUN! Play is a child’s work; therefore having fun is a top priority, and is built in all daily activities.

Admission/Enrollment Policy:

Enrollment of children is based on a first come- first serve basis, in accordance to the age- group slots allowed by the Mississippi State Department of Health. No family or child will be discriminated against because of race, color, national origin, religion, or sex. As children are enrolled they will be placed in the age group slots provided until filled. Once the slots are filled, parents applying for filled slots will be placed on a waiting list and prioritized according to date and time of application. There are several forms that we must have completed and in our possession before we can assume the responsibility of caring for your child. NO EXCEPTIONS. This is to ensure that your child will get the very best care possible from me. All forms must be updated at least every 6 months, sometimes sooner, according to need. The forms are as follows:

  • Signed Contract and Rate Agreement
  • Emergency Medical Authorization Form
  • Parent Authorization for the Administration of Medication
  • Admission and Registration Form
  • General Permission Slip

Other copied forms that must be on file during the admission process:

Child’s Immunization Records #121

Child’s Birth Certificate

Child’s Social Security Card

If you have any questions regarding the completion of these forms, please feel free to ask.

Program Goals:

The School-Age program is designed to provide children time to, interact with friends, explore creative arts, play games in and outdoors, work puzzles, construct with various computerized activities/exercises.

Goals for the children include:
  • To provide a light snack to re-energize & to refocus the child.
  • To assist children in learning to live a successful life with love at the center of all their experiences.
  • To provide a program that allows children to develop in the areas of social, emotional cognitive and physical growth.
  • To develop a positive self-concept through social interactions that involve cooperation, conflict resolution and relationship building

After School Program: Homework Support

Genesis staff recognizes that children need dedicated space, time and support for their daily homework assignments, and every effort will be made to insure that they receive these. In the School-Age program, the teacher's role with homework is multifaceted: facilitator, supporter, and resource specialist, however, we recognized that homework assignment is ultimately the child and parent responsibility.
